The Israeli newspaper “Israel Hume” reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a review of the situation today with Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and security officials to discuss the upcoming response of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza.
A poll published by Maariv newspaper showed that 66% of Israelis support Trump’s proposal, compared to only 11% opposing him.
41% of the participants also saw that the chances of the success of the plan are “limited”, while 30% considered that the chances of its success are “very small”.
On September 29, the White House issued a detailed plan calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, followed by a comprehensive program for reconstruction and reorganization of the political and security situation in the Strip.
The plan is seeking to convert the Gaza Strip into a “empty area”, while providing a transitional mechanism to rule with international and regional guarantees under the direct supervision of the American President in a new international form concerned with following up the implementation.
The plan includes the release of all Israeli prisoners in Hamas within 72 hours of approval, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from the occupation prisons.
It also stipulates the cessation of fighting, stripping the Palestinian resistance from its weapons, and gradually withdrawing Israel from the Strip, governing the authority of technocrats.
Since the seventh of October 2023, Israel has continued with an American support for extermination on the Gaza Strip, which has so far killed more than 66,000 Palestinians and wounded about 169,000, most of them children and women, as well as a famine that killed 455 people, including 151 children.
