Medvedev, addressing Trump: We are neither Israel nor Iran and warnings are a step towards a war between us news

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev criticized US President Donald Trump, after the latter threatened to expedite the deadline he granted to Russia to reach a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine.

“Every new final warning is a threat and a step towards war. It is not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his country (America),” he added in a post on the X platform that “Russia is not Israel or even Iran,” referring to the short war that broke out between the two countries last month, during which the United States launched strikes on Iran to support Israel.

Medvedev, who was President of Russia between 2008 and 2012, still has a great impact in Moscow, where he is the Vice -President of the National Security Council.

His remarks came in response to Trump’s escalation of his accent against Russia, in light of the lack of progress to stop the war in Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Trump threatened to impose harsh customs duties on Russia’s commercial partners if Moscow did not agree to the ceasefire within 50 days, and gave Russian President Vladimir Putin a final deadline until the second of next September.

But during a meeting with British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer on Monday, Trump said that he “will reduce the 50 days that he has selected to fewer days”, saying that this could be “10 days or 12 days.”

The US President indicated that he is “very disappointed” from Putin because of the continued hitting of Russia civilian targets in Ukraine, and pointed out that he is not interested in talking to Putin, and added, “I really felt that the matter will end. But every time I think it will end, he kills more people … I am no longer interested in talking to him.”
