Mbappe said in a long interview with the French network “CANAL+”, “My love for the French national team has not changed. Yes, I miss that atmosphere.”
He added, “In September, I asked the coach not to summon me because I had just arrived at Real Madrid and spent a short vacation, but he insisted on my coming, and things did not go well.”
He continued, “In October, I suffered an injury. At that time, there was communication between the Real Madrid administration and the national team officials, but I did not participate in it. After that, the coach told me that it was better not to call me.”
Mbappe continued, “Then November came. At that time I was ready to return to the national team, but Deschamps decided not to include me again. I respected his decision as he was responsible for the team, but for my part, I wanted to represent France, and now I cannot talk about the reasons for my exclusion.”
Deschamps (56 years old) has been careful throughout the recent period not to delve into the reasons for Mbappe’s exclusion, amid rumors claiming that the coach will discuss with the player the possibility of withdrawing the captaincy or not, according to the min90 website.

Mbappe (25 years old) was chosen as captain of the France national team after his compatriot Hugo Lloris retired from international football after the 2022 World Cup, which was held in the State of Qatar.
Mbappe wore the “Roosters” shirt in 86 international matches, during which he scored 48 goals, while the player was subjected to severe criticism after his poor performance with the national team in the European Cup (Euro 2024), in which he scored a single goal.
Perhaps things will become clearer between the two men during the next few months, especially since the next camp for the French national team will be in March 2025.
The French national team will play against its Croatian counterpart in two round-robin matches in the quarter-finals of the European Nations League on March 20 and 23 of next year.
