I sat on a beach on the Greek Kos Island, looking at the hills beyond the water – Turkey. There is always something strange where two very different countries meet at a distance from each other. But here the strangeness is particularly prominent: the Dodkans Islands are located much closer to the little Asia (a swimming of an hour) than to a continent of Greece (an hour flight). And despite the peace, history resonates.
Kos has a small story, and also the simplest locals are proud of his ancient heritage – related to no less than the Hippocrates oath. This symbolic element of medical ethics – respects the patient, do not cause harm, respect your teachers – was born here.
