Jaipur. In a data leak case in Rajasthan, the state government has imposed a huge fine of more than Rs 27 lakh on the telecom company Vodafone Idea Limited. This is said to be the first action of imposing fine under IT Act-2000 in Rajasthan. Along with this, it has been said that if the company does not provide the fine amount to the victim within the stipulated time, then it will have to pay 10 percent interest per month. In this case, approximately Rs 68 lakh was withdrawn from the victim’s account.

According to the news published in Dainik Bhaskar, Vodafone SIM of a person named Krishnalal Nain had got damaged. On this, Nain had applied to the company for a second duplicate SIM. But later this SIM was issued to another person named Bhanupratap without any verification. Later, Bhanu Pratap withdrew Rs 68 lakh from Nain’s account through this. When Nain came to know about this, he filed a claim against the company for compensation under the IT Act.

Ordered to give the amount to the victimized party within a month
Later, this case was heard by Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government of Information Technology and Communication Department and Adjudicating Officer of the Court. After completion of the hearing, Gupta imposed a fine of Rs 27.23 lakh on Vodafone. Along with this, he ordered the company to give the amount to the victim within a month, otherwise it will have to pay 10 percent interest per year. It is being told that for the first time a fine has been imposed on a telecom company in Rajasthan under the IT Act.
