Today, Saturday, settlers attacked Palestinians while they were picking olives in the village of Burin, south of Nablus in the West Bank, amid international confirmations that the olive season witnessed the highest level of attacks in 5 years, while an Israeli security source confirmed that settler attacks were out of control.
The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) reported that the Yitzhar settlement guard, accompanied by a number of settlers, attacked the Palestinians while they were picking olives from the lands located between the village of Burin and the town of Huwwara.

Escalating attacks
In turn, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper confirmed – citing a security source – that settler attacks in the West Bank are out of control, stressing that the violent attacks of the “Hill Boys” settlement group are escalating.
She pointed out that the field situation and documents show that the army usually does nothing to confront settler attacks in the West Bank.
According to a statement by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) published yesterday, Friday, the olive season in the West Bank witnessed the highest level of attacks by colonialists in 5 years.
The office explained that settlers carried out 126 attacks that affected 70 towns in the West Bank, and destroyed more than 4,000 trees and olive seedlings.
He pointed out that settlers from new outposts imposed restrictions on access to olive fields in many locations in the West Bank.
He added that 60 settler attacks on Palestinian citizens were recorded, in which 17 people were injured and 19 vehicles were vandalized during the last week.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the occupation army and settlers carried out a total of 259 attacks against olive pickers, since the start of the season in the first week of last October, until the 28th of the same month.
The Authority stated – in a press statement issued last Tuesday – that its crews monitored the implementation of 41 cases of attacks by the occupation army, and 218 cases of settlers.
She pointed out that these attacks ranged from violent physical assault, arrest campaigns, restricting movement and preventing access, intimidation and intimidation in all its forms, and shooting.
The olive season is one of the most important agricultural seasons in Palestine, as thousands of families depend on it as a major source of income and livelihood.
However, according to field estimates and data from the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, the current season is the weakest in recent decades, as production does not exceed 15% of the normal rate.
These attacks fall within a wide wave of Israeli escalation in the West Bank by the army and settlers during the two years of genocide in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of 1,062 Palestinians and the injury of about 10,000 others, in addition to the arrest of more than 20,000 people, including 1,600 children.
