The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) expressed its categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the report of the United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Guterres on sexual violence connected to armed conflicts that included the inclusion of the movement within the “black list”, while Guterres directed Israel about its violations against the Palestinians in prisons.
Hamas said in a statement, on Friday evening, that this step is legally invalid, and warned that “this flagrant duplication represents a serious deviation from the principle of equality before international law, and a spoiling politicization of the mechanisms of the United Nations, threatening its integrity and turning it into a tool for whitening the occupation crimes instead of holding it accountable.”
The movement emphasized that this decision was not based on independent and neutral field investigations “but rather relied exclusively on Israeli and fully fabricated Israeli accounts, without conducting any honest investigation or communicating with the alleged victims, which constitutes a clear violation of the professional principles stipulated in the United Nations resolutions.”
Excluding the occupation forces
Hamas stated that “in contrast, the Israeli occupation forces were excluded from condemnation and inclusion in this list, despite the availability of hundreds of documented evidence in the reports of the United Nations fact -finding committees, and the reports of independent international human rights organizations, and the private decisions, which prove that the occupation forces committed systematic violations of sexual violence against Palestinian civilians, including rape and other forms Nationality, in the context of the genocide war it is waging on the Gaza Strip.
Hamas urged the Secretary -General of the United Nations and the Security Council to review this decision, immediately withdraw it from official records and open an independent and neutral international investigation “in all allegations of sexual violence related to the conflict with the Zionist enemy.”
It also called for “the pursuit and accountability of the enemy leaders and the leaders of his criminal army for all the crimes of rape and sexual violence against our people, and against our prisoners in Nazi prisons and camps, and their presentation to the International Criminal Court in compliance with the principle of impunity.”
Guterres warns Israel
The United Nations Secretary -General sent a direct warning message to the Israeli government about violations against Palestinians in Israeli prisons, which was confirmed by the Israeli ambassador to the international organization.
In his report on sexual violence related to armed conflicts – which was issued on Thursday – Guterres expressed his concern about documented information about violations committed by the Israeli security forces against Palestinians in several prisons and detention centers in addition to a military base.
The report referred to the United Nations confidence that includes patterns of sexual violence.
The United Nations has warned Israel that its forces are facing the risk of inclusion in the list of bodies suspected of sexual violence in conflicts. The UN report was satisfied with placing Israel on the list of countries that were alerted to the practices that it might later put in the blacklist.
