Expert: Hezbollah is changing its military approach and Israel’s claims are unrealistic news

Military expert Brigadier General Elias Hanna said that Lebanese Hezbollah changed its approach from deterrence to focusing on restoration and operating in absolute secrecy within a “new military doctrine,” in light of the escalation of Israeli threats towards Lebanon.

Hanna explained – during his analysis of the military scene in Lebanon – that Hezbollah focuses on secrecy in its military movements, taking advantage of a “new geographical reality,” and this indicates the development of its military doctrine towards Israel.

According to the military expert, Hezbollah’s center of gravity moved from the south of the Litani River to its north, indicating that about 47% of the Israeli air raids were on the south of the Litani, compared to 37% on its north, while 13% of the raids were concentrated on the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon.

Yesterday, Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz demanded that Hezbollah be quickly disarmed and removed from southern Lebanon, accusing Lebanese President Joseph Aoun of procrastinating in disarming the party, and said that “Hezbollah is playing with fire.”

Katz stressed that Israel will not stop the attacks in Lebanon and “will not leave the security belt.”

In response to Israeli accounts regarding Hezbollah smuggling weapons and the restructuring of its forces, Hanna explained that these justifications are not based on confirmed facts, pointing out that the new phase reflects changes at the party’s material and human levels.

Accordingly, Israel is taking advantage of the ceasefire period and the rules of engagement that were established – according to Hanna – to secure what is known as the “Blue Line and the areas it occupies in Lebanon,” in reference to the five points in southern Lebanon.

The United Nations drew the “Blue Line” – 120 kilometers long – to separate the two sides after the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000. The line is not an international border, but it was established with the aim of verifying the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon.

The military expert expressed his conviction that Israel always leans towards a military solution and tries to show the Lebanese state as powerless, stressing that the Lebanese army cannot confront Hezbollah due to the complexities of the Lebanese structure.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, threatened that his government “will not allow the Lebanon front to become a source of threat to Israel,” stressing that the army will do “whatever is necessary to prevent this.”

Israel did not adhere to the terms of the cessation of hostilities agreement between it and Lebanon, which began implementation on November 27, 2024, and its forces are still carrying out bulldozing and bombing operations, and launching almost daily raids in southern Lebanon. Its forces are still present in 5 points in southern Lebanon.
