Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced – today, Sunday – that his country has received new military aid from European countries, and on the other hand, Slovakia stressed its refusal to contribute to financing the purchase of weapons for Kiev.
Zelensky said that Finland and Spain will contribute to purchasing American weapons “for us, including missiles for the Patriot system.”
He added that Britain would provide his country with air defense missiles, and would help it create interception drones.
In the same context, France decided to provide Ukraine with additional Mirage warplanes and air defense missiles, according to Zelensky.
European Union leaders agreed – last Thursday – to meet Ukraine’s “urgent financial needs” over the next two years, but they refrained from supporting a plan to use frozen Russian assets to finance a 140 billion euro loan to Kiev.
The Ukrainian president said the money could be used immediately to strengthen air defence, the air fleet and front-line positions.

Explicit refusal
On the other hand, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Vičo said today that his country will not participate in any European Union program aimed at financing military aid to Ukraine in its war against the Russian attack.
Vizzo disagrees with the EU countries regarding the war, saying that the solution is not on the battlefield.
He also said in a televised press conference, “I refuse to allow Slovakia to participate in any financial plan aimed at helping Ukraine manage the war and military spending.”
Slovakia stopped military aid to Ukraine when Vetsko’s government took power in 2023, but still allows commercial sales.
