Something unusual happened on September 1. Hundreds of teenagers around the country left the schools to protest the kidnappers – not because someone organized them, not because they got permission, but rather even though everyone tried to stop them.
The National Student and Youth Council offered to stop school for only 50 minutes and return to routine. The Jerusalem District Director at the Ministry of Education sent a letter to members of the student councils that warns of “harm to the unity of the people.” But this youth decided: We are not ready to continue as usual when people are captivated.
