December 27th marked the 99th anniversary of the birth of Moshe Arens, who was, among other things, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the governments of Israel, and January 7th will mark the 6th anniversary of his death. The dates are not round, but it is convenient to hang on the days in between to mention a decent politician, who brought us Benjamin Netanyahu.
Arens was born in Lithuania and grew up in Latvia. Like his protégé, he grew up in the US, was a Jewish student and studied at MIT, a prestigious academic institution near Boston (and later one of the centers of protest against Israel). Comparison between people cannot be accurate. But nevertheless, in my understanding, this is where the similarity between them ends.
