Tel Aviv, Thursday, evening time. The secular bus line 48, which travels only within the autonomy, makes its way through the relatively deserted streets towards the Neve Tzedek neighborhood. The traffic jams have indeed disappeared, but the residents speak of the change as a fateful decision – not as a relief.
“This line,” says Yael, a mother of two in her thirties, “is the daily reminder that we live within clear boundaries. I used to be able to travel to visit my sister in Bnei Brak easily. Today it is not possible without adjusting the clothing and without experiencing hostility in certain places.”
