THE Disney the fleet is growing.
Next month, the Disney Treasure cruise ship will make its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Caribbean, officially becoming the sixth ship in the company’s lineup.
The Treasure, which measures 221 feet high and 1,119 feet long, can carry 4,000 passengers and 1,555 crew members. Like other Disney cruise ships, Treasure offers themed meals, curated lounges and premium shows on board.
As Treasury sets sail, Disney also embarks on its own journey. The company, which hadn’t launched a new ship in a decade before the Disney Wish debuted in mid-2022, is entering an era of rapid expansion.
Disney’s fleet will double by 2031, with the arrival of two ships in 2025 – the Disney Destiny and the Disney Adventure – followed by four additional Disney-branded ships and a partnership with Oriental Land Company to bring Disney cruises in Japan.
“Disney Cruise Line is going through a period of unprecedented growth,” said Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney’s New Experiences and Iconic Experiences portfolio. “The demand we’re seeing right now for Disney Cruise Line is very strong. We’re a premium brand, occupancy is high and, frankly, the business is doing really, really well.”

Disney cruises are part of the company’s experiences division, alongside parks, resorts and consumer products. According to the company’s earnings report released Thursday, the division reported record revenue and profit for fiscal 2024, with revenue up 5% for the entire year to $34.15 billion and operating profit up 4% to $9.27 billion.
The experiences segment was Disney’s second-largest source of revenue last year behind its entertainment division, which totaled $41.18 billion in fiscal 2024. However, the segment’s operating profits entertainment were lower, at just $3.92 billion.
Full-year revenue growth for experiences was the strongest of any Disney division, and the company expects earnings growth of 6% to 8% for experiences over the course of fiscal year 2025.
Disney has become a leader in family cruises, despite its relatively small number of ships. For comparison, the three largest cruise lines are Carnivalwith more than 100 ships, Royal Caribbeanwith more than 40, and Norwegian cruise linewith around 30.
Disney is considered slightly more expensive than Carnival and Royal Caribbean in terms of base pricing, but if guests choose to upgrade to larger cabins or add food packages or experiences to their itineraries, prices are quite similar .
Disney’s Treasure offers seven-night cruises starting at $4,277 for two guests and $6,994 for a family of four. These prices increase if travelers choose cruises related to Halloween or Christmas.

What sets Disney apart is its cruise innovations and emphasis on storytelling, said Gavin Doyle, founder of MickeyVisit.com.
“Disney redefined the cruise space from the moment it arrived, and it was in the way they designed the ships in a guest-centric way that they served the people on board, as well as the characters well -loved and the intellectual properties they can integrate,” he said. .
Doyle noted that Disney accommodates diners using “rotational dining” on its cruise ships. Passengers do not eat in a large dining hall: they have to dine in different themed restaurants. Disney also rotates restaurant staff to follow each group of passengers to their scheduled restaurant. In doing so, guests have the same servers, busboys and restaurant managers throughout their trip, and the servers get to know the guests and their preferences.
“They are able to provide this level of customer service that seems magical,” Doyle said.
Immersive dinner
Although there are traditional amenities aboard the Treasure that are staples on cruise lines – upscale restaurants, pools, spas and children’s playrooms – Disney has integrated storytelling into these services to elevate them to the eye. customers.
Its dinner restaurants are immersive and feature live entertainment. Plaza de Coco, the first theatrical dining experience themed after the 2017 film “Coco,” invites guests to gather at Mariachi Plaza for a celebratory meal and music.

Le Trésor also offers adults-only restaurants for those traveling without children or looking for a night out.
Palo Steakhouse and Enchante are upscale restaurants inspired by “Beauty and the Beast” and offer Italian and French gourmet menus. Le Rose, a chic lounge located at the entrance to both restaurants, offers pre-dinner aperitifs and post-dinner cocktails.
Bringing parks offshore
The Disney Treasure marks the first time Disney has transferred intellectual properties from its parks onto one of its ships.

“Walt Disney World has been around for about 50 years,” Mazloum said. “Disneyland even longer. Over the years, many of our guests have grown up coming to our parks, and over time you’ve had these iconic attractions and experiences… Our Imagineers, and I have to give them a lot of credit credit, had the idea.”
“We were literally delighted with this idea, and even more delighted with the reception we received,” he added.
Another fan-favorite park property coming to Treasure is Jungle Cruise. Skipper Society is a place to enjoy themed cocktails and light snacks, surrounded by camp-style furnishings.

Other adults-only venues include the Scat Cat Lounge, based on “The Aristocats,” and the Periscope Pub, based on “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”
Multigenerational fun
Of course, for many, Disney cruises are a family affair.
“People often say they were designed for families, which is absolutely true,” Mazloum said. “I would go further and say that they were truly designed for multiple generations so that everyone can benefit from their experiences.”
According to the Cruise Lines International Association, cruises are a preferred choice for multigenerational travel, with a third of families sailing with at least two generations. Additionally, 28 percent of cruise passengers board with three to five generations, the organization said in its annual State of the Cruise Industry report released in April.
Disney has dedicated areas for each age group. It’s a Small World Nursery offers childcare for children aged six months to three years, while older children can visit Disney’s Oceaneer Club, which features several immersive areas.
Families can also see “Disney’s Tale of Moana” at the Walt Disney Theater aboard Treasure. The Broadway-style production features a huge Te Ka puppet and introduces a brand new song called “Warrior Face.” The stage will also feature “Disney Seas the Adventure” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
Additionally, the Treasury will include Hero Zone and Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas, popular Disney Wish spaces. Hero Zone is a sports and entertainment venue featuring game show-style competitions and physical challenges, while the cinemas are luxury screening rooms showing first-run films from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.
Similar to the Wish, the Treasure also has a Toy Story-themed area that includes a splash pad, splash pad, and family slide. There is also an adapted version of Wish’s AquaMouse water coaster called “Curse of the Golden Egg”.
