An investigation conducted by the Associated Press showed that the giant American technology companies provided Israel secretly with a huge boom in artificial and computing services that enabled it to pursue and kill larger numbers who claim to be fighters in Gaza and Lebanon.
In its investigation, which was published on Tuesday, the US agency said that with the escalation of civilian deaths, concerns about the role of these technologies in killing innocent people increased.
The investigation indicated a major boom in Israel’s use of the technologies of “Microsoft” and “Oben AI” in those activities since October 7, 2023.
The agency quoted an Israeli intelligence officer as saying that young officers were under pressure to find the targets quickly and fall into errors.
The officer added: “We saw targeting errors related to artificial intelligence due to inaccurate translations,” noting that these systems identified high school students as potential fighters.
The investigation was based on documents, data and interviews with current and former Israeli officials, including 3 reserves, as well as interviews with current and former employees in Microsoft, Opn AI, Google and Amazon.
