Al-Shaibani: Our diplomatic movements are calm and planned news

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani said on Saturday that the relationship with Russia, China and Europe is determined by Syria’s status, stressing that all the government’s diplomatic moves are calm and planned and there is no concession to the rights of Syrians.

In an interview with the Syrian Al-Ekhbariya channel (official), Al-Shaibani said that dealing with Russia, which Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa visited a few days ago, was gradual and no new agreements were obtained, and the agreements between Moscow and the former regime are pending, and we do not accept them, according to his expression.

Regarding the relationship with China, he said that the relationship with this country, which was politically standing “on the side of the former regime and using its veto in its favor,” has been re-corrected, adding that at the beginning of next month there will be the first official visit to Beijing.

Al-Shaibani accused Israel of pursuing an expansionist project, saying that it is trying to impose a new reality, exploiting the change that occurred in Syria, and that its practices enhance instability in Syria and the region.

The Syrian wound

The minister described the Suwayda file as a Syrian wound, considering that “what happened was not chosen by the Syrian government, and our partners agreed to the road map presented by the government, and there is a fact-finding committee, and we advanced in this file and regained national sentiment.”

He called on the elites, sheikhs of reason, and everyone keen in Suwayda to work to overcome this problem, adding, “We are dealing with this file from a national standpoint, and it is an internal problem, but when this file was internationalized, it was to serve specific external agendas.”

Regarding the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Al-Shaibani said, “We succeeded in convincing the countries concerned with this file that the only solution to it is the March 10 agreement, because the absence of the SDF forces within state institutions deepens the rift between them and the Syrian state. Therefore, we believe that the partnership must take place as quickly as possible.”

He said, “There is a historic opportunity for the north and east of Syria to be an active part at this stage, and any delay in implementing the March 10 agreement will reflect negatively and hinder the interests of civilians and the return of the displaced to their areas.”

In this context, he stressed the rejection of any form of division and federalism, and stressed that this principle does not require discussion or negotiation. He also talked about the government’s attempts to resolve the issue of Syrian detainees in Lebanon, especially those detained there on political charges under pressure from the former regime.
