“Al -Samoud” starts from Tunisia to Gaza … a popular crowd and a message of anger in the face of the siege policy

Tunisia – Amid the roar of the engines and the sound of car and bus stimuli, it started this morning, Monday, June 9, from Mohamed V Street, in the center of the capital, Tunis, the wild convoy of steadfastness, in a historic move to break the siege imposed on Gaza.

This wild humanitarian convoy includes the first of its kind, dozens of buses and cars, with more than a thousand enthusiastic participants raising the flags of Tunisia and Palestine, and chanting chants denouncing the Israeli aggression and exposing the silence of the international community.

The convoy – which is organized by the coordination of joint work for Palestine – will move towards a number of Tunisian governorates to collect the rest of the participants, starting in Sousse Governorate, then Sfax Faqab, all the way to Medenine Governorate, specifically the border crossing with Libya, Ras al -Jadir.

According to the supervisors of the convoy, which includes independent activists with the support of the Labor Union, the Red Crescent and the Deanship of Doctors, the journey will take 14 days.

The convoy will move through Libya via Tripoli, Misrata, Sirte, Benghazi and Tobruk, before entering the Egyptian Salloum crossing on the 12th of the same month, all the way to Cairo, then the Rafah crossing on the 15th of the same month.

Popular cohesion

Before the launch of the caravan trip, Mohamed V Street was crowded in the capital with the participants from various spectra in an enthusiastic atmosphere and youth cohesion with a remarkable presence of the elderly who exceeded the age of seventy.

Amid this general scene, a seventy man highlights his head, Shaiba, slowly progressing among the participants as if his young soul does not recognize the age of time. Lotfi bin Issa, a retired university professor – for Al -Jazeera Net – says that he is participating in this distant journey to support the people of Gaza.

He adds, “I participate with these young people who bear the burden of organizing this caravan efficiently. What is happening in Gaza is a blatant test of our humanity, and a stand between those who preserve his humanity and who descended to animal.”

Before the launch, the voices of the participants came up with hostile chants of the occupation entity, condemning the complicity of Western regimes with him in the murders and starvation, such as “Francis and the Americans are partners in the aggression.”

As a large number of participants loaded with full -time travel bags, some of them climbed to buses and others’ willingness to drive their cars to leave, the place seemed similar to a beehive with determination and activity.

In a speedy pace, the young woman, Amna Jama’i, a Red Crescent activist, is making her way towards one of the buses to participate in the convoy. Bear behind her back, traveling, while her heart beats with an unworthy determination and belief that the road to Gaza deserves all sacrifice and solidarity.

In a deep voice that is affected by what is happening in Gaza, she says to Al -Jazeera Net, “I do not find words describing my feeling about what is happening in Gaza. This journey is psychological and human support for our brothers in Gaza. We want the world to wake up and move seriously to stop the massacres and break the siege.”

At a time when the wild steadfast caravan is launched to break the siege imposed on Gaza, the “Madeleine” ship, with 12 international activists heading to break the siege on Gaza for the kidnapping of the dawn of the Israeli naval commando.

The Madeleine ship and the steadfast caravan to break the siege on Gaza comes within the scope of an international civil movement that includes more than 30 countries, in partnership with the Freedom Flotant and the Global March to Gaza and the coordination of joint work for Palestine.

Thousand participants

On the number of participants in the wild convoy to break the siege on Gaza, Wael Nawar, one of the official speakers in the name of the convoy – for Al -Jazeera Net – said that the number exceeded a thousand participants who completed the documents required for travel.

Nawar explained that the number was initially 7,000 participants, but it decreased due to the lack of thousands of young people under the age of 35 to obtain a license from their guardians.

He emphasized that this wild journey for stationing a few days in front of the Rafah crossing in order to demand the cessation of the war and the breaking of the siege, and then the introduction of the stacked food and medical assistance, is only the beginning of other consecutive trips in the future within a large project.

“The steadfast caravan is not the end, but rather the beginning of a long -term movement in order to link Gaza to the outside world through a permanent human bridge, Tunisia will be one of its basic pillars,” Nawar says.

And he confirms that the preparation for this convoy took a long time, and he explained that it is not a traditional aid convoy, but rather a symbolic humanitarian convoy with participants from Tunisia, Algeria and Libya carrying a message of solidarity with the Palestinian people, and seeks to break the siege that suffocates Gaza.

On the diplomatic side, the caravan supervisors reported that they had contacted the Egyptian embassy in Tunisia, but no official decision has yet been issued regarding allowing the convoy to enter Egyptian lands.

The convoy comes in a tragic humanitarian context imposed by the suffocating siege on the Gaza Strip, and in the context of the Israeli genocide against the people of the Gaza Strip, in the wake of the “Al -Aqsa Flood” operation launched by the Palestinian resistance factions, led by Hamas, on October 7, 2023.
