Al -Jazeera monitors the conditions of emergency schools in the camps of the displaced in Sudan news

Amid exceptional circumstances imposed by the war in Sudan, emergency schools in the camps of the displaced in Kassala, the east of the country, continue to provide education for the displaced children despite the great challenges facing them at the environmental and humanitarian levels.

Al -Jazeera correspondent Al -Taher Al -Taheri monitored these conditions in the airport camp for the displaced, as tents turned into classrooms that receive more than two thousand male and female students who maintain their passion for education despite the cruelty of circumstances.

Students take off their shoes when entering the classes and sit on the ground in the absence of seats and tables that have become a more stable past.

The teacher describes a princess of the reality of teaching in these exceptional circumstances, saying, “In emergency schools, everything has changed, the class is crowded with 23 students, and it is supposed to be 18 or 20 for follow -up,” adding that she faces difficulties in correction and follow -up of this large number of female students.

The educational process in the school is supervised by teachers of various disciplines, and they themselves are displaced by the war to leave their homes, and the week was divided equally between boys and girls, noting that the girls ’ranks are witnessing greater overcrowding compared to the ranks of the boys.

One of the stories affecting the school is the story of Abu Dharr, a student in the middle stage and combines education and work, where he spends his morning in the semester, and in the evening he works in coal maintenance to help his family and secure his studies expenses.

The tragedy is exacerbated by the presence of more than 60 children of education ages who have arrived at the camp suffering from psychological disorders, and the psychiatrist Nihad is trying to help these children through music and drawing.

In her speech, Nihad indicates that the effects of the war appeared in the drawings of children that are filled with weapons and soldiers, which led her to work to integrate them with their schoolmates.

In the midst of this bitter reality, hopes remain suspended on a better future for these children who continue to teach them despite all the difficulties. With every drawing they take and every word they learn to pronounce it, hope is renewed that the child who draws a flower may be able to grow a garden of dreams.

Since mid -April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been fighting a war that left more than 20,000 dead and more than 14 million displaced and refugees, according to United Nations estimates and local authorities.
