1,255 publishing houses from 49 countries participated in the International Book Fair in Algeria culture


The Algiers International Book Salon is preparing to receive visitors to its 28th session from October 29 to November 8, which will be held with the participation of 1,255 publishers from 49 countries.

The director of the exhibition, Muhammad Aqrab, said in a press conference that the new session raises the slogan “The book is a meeting place of cultures,” and will be held in the Exhibition Palace in the Marine Pines on an area of ​​23 thousand square meters.

Aqrab added that the exhibition provides visitors with more than 240,000 book titles, while Mauritania is the guest of honor for this session, in a step that “reflects the depth of cultural ties between the two countries, and highlights the distinguished position of Mauritania as a country full of history and creativity.”

He pointed out that the cultural program of the exhibition includes 55 events with the participation of about 250 writers and intellectuals from Algeria, Africa and other countries.

Aqrab said that this year the exhibition celebrates the novelist Rachid Boudjedra, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of his creative career, and the name of the late writer Abdelhamid Ben Hadouqa (1925-1996) on the occasion of his centenary of birth.

He added that the exhibition will also celebrate the centenary of the birth of French doctor and thinker Frantz Fanon (1925-1961).

On the sidelines of the exhibition, an international forum entitled “Algeria in Civilization” will be held on November 4.
