“The Novgorod region is actively using measures to support the national project “Youth and Children”, launched on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. Thus, Novgorod State University is participating in the “Priority 2030” program, a leading school with 600 seats is being built. Under the federal project “Professionalism”, three clusters were created last year – in radio electronics, chemical and construction industries. The implementation of such projects creates additional opportunities for residents of the region, helps to unlock their potential and develop talents,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Governor of the Novgorod region Alexander Dronov reported that in September Veliky Novgorod hosted the final of the high-tech championship for the third time. Competitions were held in 15 innovative competencies. This is one of the key events of the championship movement. The number of participants over three years has increased 5.5 times – from 2.7 thousand to 15 thousand people.
In the Novgorod region, 12 research projects supported by the Russian Science Foundation are being implemented. In addition, within the framework of the Megagrants program, a Center for Research on Microplastic Problems was created at Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University.
Additionally, Dmitry Chernyshenko recommended that the Novgorod region take part in the next selection of advanced engineering schools and selection for the creation of clusters within the framework of the “Professionality” project.
Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the work of the innovative scientific and technological center “Intelligent Electronics – Valdai”, created on behalf of the President. Its key areas are high-tech electronics, quantum technologies, the development and creation of a fifth-generation mobile communication network, the Internet of things, as well as new energy sources and biomedical cell technologies. Today, the INTC has 61 residents, including companies from the Rostec Group of Companies, FMBA of Russia, Rosgeologiya, Roscosmos Group of Companies, the Almaz-Antey East Kazakhstan Concern, the Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern, etc. Construction of second-stage facilities is currently underway.
In addition, Alexander Dronov reported that thanks to the victories of the Novgorod region in the competition “Region for the Young” of the national project “Youth and Children”, new objects of attraction for youth are being overhauled in the region and new objects are being created.
“In 2023, we managed to overhaul the regional Youth House in Veliky Novgorod, a year later we managed to create a multifunctional youth center in Staraya Russa, and this year the Ogonkov Youth Center in Borovichi is being overhauled,” he said.
The Novgorod region pays attention to the development of volunteerism. Youth provide assistance to SVO participants and their families.
As part of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality”, investment projects are being implemented in the region and glamping sites are being created.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also reported that at the end of 2024, the region exceeded the plan for the share of citizens systematically involved in physical education and sports.
