In Russia, systematic work on infrastructure development continues, the key element of which is the modernization of the road network. In particular, in the Leningrad Region, on the 594th km of the M-11 Neva federal highway, construction of a transport interchange has started. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“When solving the problem of infrastructural development of the country, we use an integrated approach. It provides for the creation of a single interconnected road frame. To do this, we are modernizing existing routes, building new ones, and also constructing transport interchanges. In response to requests from residents and on the initiative of the governors of the Leningrad and Novgorod regions, we began to build a transport interchange at the 594th km of M-11 Neva. The implementation of this project will make it possible to connect the federal and regional road networks with high-speed traffic and improve transport connections between regions. The interchange will provide a shorter route in the direction of the city of Luga and the Murmansk highway – towards Kirishi, Volkhov, Novaya Ladoga, Lodeynoye Pole, Petrozavodsk and Murmansk – as well as reduce travel time for local residents. The project will also become a driver of socio-economic development of the regions. Logistics will speed up, new tourist routes will appear, and opportunities will open up for business development. Currently, a set of works is being carried out at the site to prepare the area for future construction, as well as installing a subgrade embankment,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The transport interchange will be built at the intersection of the M-11 Neva highway and the 41A-004 Pavlovo – Mga – Shapki – Lyuban – Oredezh – Luga highway in the Tosnensky district of the Leningrad region. The future road facility includes 8 exits.
According to the chairman of the board of the state company Avtodor, Vyacheslav Petushenko, as part of the construction of a new facility, ramps are being built on the highway connecting to the regional road.
“They are being built taking into account the existing multifunctional road service zone, which is located on the M-11 Neva in the direction from Moscow to St. Petersburg. The ramps will provide connections between federal and regional roads in all directions. External lighting will be installed on the expressway lanes and exit ramps of the traffic intersection, and an automated traffic control system will be deployed, similar to other sections of our highways. It will help control the road situation in this area in real time,” noted Vyacheslav Petushenko.
The launch of traffic on the new transport interchange is planned for 2026.
