Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, a meeting of the Organizational Committee for the preparation and holding of international sports games of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky in 2025. The competition will be held from September 9 to 15 in St. Petersburg. The organizers are the Ministry of Sports, the Government of St. Petersburg and the Patriarchal Commission on physical and sports of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The organizing committee on the preparation and conduct of international sports games in 2025 Alexander Nevsky was created on the initiative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill and with the support of the Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“In September last year, the II All -Russian Sports Games of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky successfully passed in Nizhny Novgorod. They were held at a really high organizational level, almost 2 thousand people out of 68 regions in 6 sports took part. The winner and owner of the passing Cup of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ was the team from St. Petersburg. It was this city that became the venue for the following games. This year we already expect about 2.5 thousand participants – these are representatives of 74 regions of Russia, as well as the republics of Belarus, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, Indonesia and other countries, ”said Dmitry Chernyshenko, deputy chairman of the government.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as other interested organizations and regions of Russia.
Mikhail Degtyarev, head of the Ministry of Sports of Russia, spoke about preparing for games and the program of competitions: “This year, the sports program will be rich and diverse. Participants will perform in 6 sports: basketball, football, table tennis, chess, volleyball and fulfilling the standards of the TRP complex. In addition, we will have an additional program. A city with a richest history and cultural heritage has a very great experience in organizing large competitions and will be an ideal platform. I am sure these games will develop. We first try to conduct them in international format and already see the interest of our foreign colleagues. ”
The vice-governor of St. Petersburg, Boris Piotrovsky, noted that the preparation of the city for games is followed by a comprehensive plan, which includes events in different directions. Sports facilities have already been approved for competitions, and the estimates of costs for organization and conduct, as well as a plan for ensuring integrated security during the preparation and conduct of games, have been formed and agreed.
The Deputy Prime Minister instructed to pay special attention to the issue of attracting representatives of foreign countries to the games and take all the necessary measures for this.
Ambassador for special instructions, special representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on International Sports Cooperation, Mikhail Khorev noted that invitations to participate in the games were sent to the heads of sports departments of other countries. Serbia’s decision is expected to send a team participant in St. Petersburg. The department will also assist in obtaining visas to the participants and guests of the event.
At the site of the event in St. Petersburg, the International Forum “Vera and Sport” will be held, aimed at the interaction of religious organizations of the traditional faiths of Russia with executive bodies, organizations and institutions in the field of physical culture and sports. It will unite scientific, educational, informational and cultural events for participants and guests of games.
Metropolitan Murmansk and Monchegorsky, the chairman of the Patriarchal Commission on Physical Culture and Sports, Mitrofan proposed to enter an event in the list of particularly significant official physical and sporting events with the inclusion of a single calendar plan.
In addition, at the moment, the issue of organizing the first winter international sports games of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky in the Leningrad Region is being considered.
