
Russian schoolchildren won 4 medals at the 36th International Biological Olympiad
In Keson City (the Republic of Filippins) summed up the results of the 36th International Biological Olympiad (IBO 2025). Four Russian high school students won two gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
The children and their mentors were congratulated on the victory by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
“Guys, congratulations on a brilliant performance at the International Biological Olympiad! Your participation among talented schoolchildren from 77 countries is already an achievement. You demonstrated outstanding knowledge that the Russian team brought four medals: two gold, silver and bronze. This is the result of synergy of the perseverance and labor of students, the contribution of teachers and the support of parents. Friends, let your interest in the knowledge of the natural sciences not fade away. Our President Vladimir Putin said: “Science is the basis of development and progress“. Develop your talents, strive for breakthrough decisions and new discoveries. The future of Russia is in your hands, ”said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
At the moment, in the piggy bank of Russian teams, 18 gold, 6 silver and one bronze medal of the main international olympiads.

I am sure that by the end of the year we will maintain a leading position. Russian teams have already 25 medals, won in 2025 at the main international olympiads. Gold medals were won by BEPA Krasnoperov (fifty -seventh school, Moscow), Makar Roshchin (Lyceum No. 130 of Academician M.A. Lavrentieva, Novosibirsk). Silver – at Zakhar Degternko (fifty -seventh school, Moscow). Alikhan Zhangaziev (School of the Center for Pedagogical Mastery, Moscow) was awarded a bronze medal.
The Russian national team was headed by a professor at the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Alexander Rubtsov. The deputy heads of the national team became: Galina Belyakova (Associate Professor of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov), Evgeny Shilov (senior teacher of the biological faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov), Dmitry Fedorov (specialist in educational work of the Moscow Center for Pedagogical Medication).
About 300 schoolchildren from 77 countries took part in the competition. A practical tour checked the ability of children to solve biological problems using laboratory methods and skills. The theoretical tour made it possible to evaluate the level of ownership of theoretical material, the ability to analyze it and apply it in practice. Schoolchildren performed Olympiad tasks at the site of the University of Ateneo de Manil.
IBO has been held annually since 1990 and unites participants from more than 70 states.
