Lawyer Hana Thomas, who had recently numbered against Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz in the federal elections from the Grandler District, represented by the Green Party, was violent to the Australian police during the disperse of a demonstration in front of the headquarters of a company accused by the protesters in cooperation with Israel. Thomas is also known as the daughter of former Malaysian public prosecutor Tan Siri Tommy Thomas.

The protest in which the lawyer Hannas Thomas participated in the company “SEC Blating”, an industrial facility claiming to provide spare parts for “F-35” aircraft used by the Israeli army in its attacks on Gaza, which the company has officially denied.

During the intervention of the New South Wales police to disperse the demonstration, violent clashes erupted, which resulted in Thomas seriously injured her, especially in her right eye, which necessitated her transfer to the hospital urgently. Her lawyer, Peter Operation, reported that the injury may cause a permanent loss of sight in that eye.

In the aftermath of the accident, several charges were directed to Thomas, including the police resistance, the obstruction of its work, and the lack of compliance with the departure orders, and it is scheduled to appear before the local Bankestown court on August 12.

In her first appearance after the incident, Thomas published a video – through her Instagram account – thanked all those who supported her, and described what she was subjected to as a “shocking experience”, confirming that she participated in peaceful protests, and added: “What he ordered is not compared to what the people of Gaza go through because of Israel.”

Despite her health, Thomas stressed that the protests supporting Gaza will continue, rejecting the bowing of what she described as “police repression”.

For its part, the New South Wales police justified its intervention that the demonstration was “unlicensed”, noting that 5 people were arrested during the dispersal of the protest, and they were later released on bail, to be in front of the court on July 15.

On the other hand, the deputy in the New South Wales Parliament for the Greens Party, Suo Higinson, called for an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the incident, expressing her condemnation of what she described as “excessive use of power” against Hana Thomas. Higinson stressed the importance of dealing with the incident as a “critical condition”, especially in light of Thomas seriously injured in the face during her arrest during a protest on Friday, noting that she had fought the elections against Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz for the Grandler district in Sydney.

In a statement issued on Saturday evening, the New South Wales police stated that “the incident is still under review, and that the police are seeking to collect more information,” noting that its announcement as a serious accident is something that is under the appreciation of the commander of the concerned area.
