Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia Alexander Novak at the site of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum met with the Secretary General of OPEC Haitam al-Gais.

“Russia highly assesses the effectiveness of interaction within the framework of OPEC+. Thanks to regular and trusting working contacts, including with the OPEC secretariat, the opportunity is being implemented in advance, to develop agreed approaches, as well as make decisions at our ministerial meetings, taking into account the interests of each OPEC+member, ”said Alexander Novak, opening the meeting.

In turn, the Secretary General OPEC highly appreciated the energy dialogue with Russia. He emphasized the importance of partnership between the Russian Federation and OPEC at all levels and highly appreciated the leading role that Russia plays in the framework of the declaration of cooperation as the co -chair of the ministerial meetings of OPEC and countries that are not part of OPEC.

The parties discussed the situation in the global oil market, including in connection with the exacerbation of the conflict in the Middle East, the interaction of Russia and OPEC both in a bilateral format and within the framework of the OPEC+transaction.

Alexander Novak invited Khaitam al-Gaisa to take part in the annual Russian Energy Week forum, which will be held from October 15 to 17 in Moscow.
