In the city of Belu-Irizonti (Brazil), the results of the 59th Mendeleev Olympiad for schoolchildren in chemistry summed up. All 10 participants in the Russian team won gold medals.
Students were congratulated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov.
“All participants in our team received gold medals – this is a real triumph and a really significant reason for pride! They became the best among the best. I am sure that at the Olympics, the guys were able not only to show their knowledge and skills, but also to learn a lot in the framework of its scientific, educational and cultural blocks, as well as find like-minded people from other countries. Let this experience open the doors for new capabilities and help to even more widely reveal its potential, ”said Deputy Prime Minister.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also noted that the Olympics is organized as part of a decade of science and technology, declared by President Vladimir Putin.
In 2025, the international intellectual competition united representatives of about 40 countries. The winners of the All -Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren in chemistry 2024/25 of the school year introduced Russia.

▪ Yaroslav Kosolapov, secondary school No. 5 with in -depth study of mathematics of Magnitogorsk (Chelyabinsk region);
▪ Fedor Kuznetsov, school No. 1329 in Moscow;
▪ Nikita Maslyuk, gymnasium No. 92 named after Hero of the Russian Federation Alexander Averkiev, Krasnodar;
▪ Pavel Revzin, Presidential Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239 of St. Petersburg;
▪ Albert Semenov, boarding school No. 2 of Kazan;
▪ Igor Ustinov, School No. 1329 of Moscow;
▪ Rashit Fashutdinov, gymnasium No. 19 of Kazan.
The Russian team took first place in the team standings. Vladimir Elistratov demonstrated the second result in the number of points among all participants in the competition.
“Our guys brilliantly showed themselves at the Mendeleev Olympiad of schoolchildren in chemistry and replenished the piggy bank of the medals of Russian participants in international intellectual competitions. It is gratifying that in different regions of the country, students’ interest in the study of natural-scientific subjects is growing. Today, educational institutions have created all the conditions for the training of future scientists, researchers and engineers. Congratulations to schoolchildren and their mentors success at the international tournament. Your victory is a vivid example of how perseverance, zeal and desire for knowledge can lead to outstanding results, ”said Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov.
As part of the Olympics, one practical and two theoretical rounds passed for schoolchildren. The guys also became participants in the cultural program and got acquainted with the traditions of Brazil.
The 59th Mendeleevsky Olympiad of Schoolchildren in Chemistry took place on the basis of the Federal University of Minas-Zhirace. Its co -organizer was the chemical faculty of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov.
“The Mendeleev Olympiad not only helps the development of the Olympiad movement in many countries, but also makes it possible to expand international scientific and educational cooperation. For example, during the MMO-59, the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University concluded an agreement with the Federal University of Minas-Direis, on the territory of which the Olympics took place. Thanks to this, new educational and scientific projects in the field of ecology, radiochemistry, radiopharmaceuticals and other areas will arise. A similar agreement is being prepared with the Brazilian National Commission on Nuclear Energy, with the research center of nuclear technologies, ”said the chairman of the MMO-59 organizing committee, the supervisor of the chemical faculty of Moscow State University, vice president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Stepan Kalmykov.
The Olympiad is the successor of the All -Union Olympiad of schoolchildren and has been held since 1967. According to UNESCO, in 2024 it became the second in the world in the number of participating countries among the chemical Olympiads.
This year, our teams have already taken part in five intermediate international intellectual competitions, where they won a total of 31 medal (20 gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze).
