Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko chaired a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Artek International Children’s Center.
The event was attended by the Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Issues of Fatherhood, Maternity and Childhood Nina Ostanina, the Director of the Artek Children’s Center Konstantin Fedorenko, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Economic Development, and Rosmolodezh , ANO “National Priorities” and others.
As part of the “Artek Christmas Tales” session, almost 2 thousand schoolchildren from all over the country will celebrate the New Year in a friendly, family atmosphere. The events of the 15th shift program are built around the celebration of New Year and Christmas. The shift starts on December 30.
Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked the Federation Council and the State Duma for jointly resolving issues related to children’s recreation.
On June 16, 2025, Artek will celebrate its anniversary. The International Children’s Center is a leader in the field of education, additional education and children’s recreation.
“On the initiative of the Federation Council and personally Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, Days of Subjects will be held in Artek in the next anniversary year. On selected dates, regional heads and delegations will be able to come to Artek, hold themed days and contribute to its development, including infrastructure. I also want to thank the state corporations and companies that supported Artek earlier than others. For example, Sber came up with an initiative to create structures for entrance groups. Rosatom is considering the possibility of creating exhibition space here. We will definitely continue this practice,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
He noted that children’s recreation is highlighted as a separate area in the preparation of the Education Development Strategy for the period until 2036 with a perspective until 2040, which is being developed on behalf of President Vladimir Putin.
Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov emphasized that in connection with the anniversary of Artek, 2025 has been declared the Year of Children’s Recreation in the education system.
“We have already successfully begun and continue to work on holding festive events in honor of the anniversary of the Artek International Children’s Center. Exhibition projects were organized in the State Duma and the Cultural Center of the Main Directorate for Services to the Diplomatic Corps under the Russian Foreign Ministry. Together with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rossotrudnichestvo, Artek has held three exhibitions abroad since September – in the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Cuba, and seven more such projects are planned. We invite honorary Artek residents to participate in events in honor of the centenary of the center. I am sure that together we will be able to make the 100th anniversary of Artek a truly significant event on a national scale,” said Sergei Kravtsov.
Director of Artek Konstantin Fedorenko noted that the 15th shift will start on December 30, which will end in the new year, 2025: “The shift will be full of New Year’s events, but the red line of the shift will be the Year of Defender of the Fatherland, declared by the President of the Russian Federation. This year we have worked out a new substantive agenda, within which each shift has red lines: this is the 100th anniversary and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The whole year will be built on dates that build a sense of pride in our great country.”
As part of the session “Christmas Tales of Artek”, pupils of the children’s center will take part in funny carols, visits and sports games.
Artek residents will write letters to the participants of the special military operation, congratulate the defenders of the Motherland on the New Year holidays, and also prepare delicious gifts for them.
During the meeting of the organizing committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko gave a number of instructions, including on meeting the deadlines of the work schedule at the facilities of the Solnechny children’s camp, preparing a plan for festive events, issuing visas for foreign guests, supporting the filming of a thematic feature film and holding a festive concert in Moscow.
The Deputy Prime Minister assessed the progress of construction and reconstruction of facilities that are planned to open in the year of the 100th anniversary of Artek, as well as the work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
“On the eve of the 100th anniversary, Artek is carrying out large-scale work on infrastructure development. In total, work is going on at 13 sites on the territory of the International Children’s Center, of which 10 are in the Solnechny complex. On site, we were personally convinced that construction and reconstruction were proceeding actively, in accordance with the established deadlines. I wish “Artek” and its employees to continue preparing for the important date of the 100th anniversary with enthusiasm and in full force, as representatives of this legendary and significant place can,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Solnechny children’s camp is planned to be commissioned in 2025. In the complex with an area of 60 thousand square meters. m will be able to rest for 1 thousand children per shift. In total, seven facilities are being built on the territory of the children’s camp, including two dormitory buildings for 500 people each, a gas boiler house with utilities, and access roads. The Deputy Prime Minister was shown the rooms where the children will live next year.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also assessed the stages of construction of the Center for Innovative and Educational Technologies, the area of which is more than 20 thousand square meters. m. 1.2 thousand children will be able to study there at the same time.
