Shoham Smith: Stop the starvation

In the peace camp in Israel and the US, depression and loss of direction are evident following the election of Donald Trump to the US presidency. These feelings are very understandable against the background of the value shock in the face of the narcissism, misogyny, racism and rudeness that Trump brings with him to the White House. The joy of the Israeli right at the election of Trump also causes understandable concerns, as well as his appointments such as – Mike Hacabi, who does not recognize the rights of the Palestinians in Israel as ambassador to Jerusalem, and Mark Rubio – a definite “hawk” as secretary of state.

But even if we are talking about very different motives than those of previous American administrations that tried to find a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, there are reasons for a scenario in which, contrary to the expectations of the right to support annexation, Trump will actually promote a political settlement.
