News – Russian Government

Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin took part in the opening ceremony of road facilities in the Chechen Republic, Volgograd and Leningrad regions, Chuvash Republic and Krasnoyarsk Territory.

“The work on building and renovating roads in the country does not stop for a single day. The strategic goal for the near future is to ensure seamless logistics within the core network so that as many of our citizens as possible can use high-quality roads. The basis of the core network is formed by international corridors: “Russia” from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok, “North – South” from the Baltic to the Caspian and the Black Sea, Europe – Western China from St. Petersburg through Kazakhstan to China. I would like to note that in six years, on average, the regions have achieved all the indicators of the national project “Safe Quality Roads”. The road framework of Russia is developing thanks to the systemic support of the President, the Chairman of the Government, advanced financing, relevant ministries, departments, governors and their regional teams, and the tireless work of builders. Many thanks to everyone who took part in the construction of the road facilities opened today,” said Marat Khusnullin.

Thus, in the Chechen Republic, traffic was opened on the final stage of the Gudermes bypass. The entire route is a major artery that will significantly improve the transport infrastructure of the region and will remove transit from the streets of Gudermes, as well as the city of Oyskhara. The bypass will be part of the North-South international transport corridor, which also includes bypasses of Grozny, Khasavyurt, Makhachkala and Derbent.

In the Volgograd region, traffic was opened along the first section of the Volgograd bypass with a length of 25 km. The new road will also be part of the North-South international transport corridor. Previously, transit flows to Azerbaijan and Iran followed through the entire city, which stretches 90 km along the Volga. Preliminarily, the new bypass will help move up to 15 thousand transit vehicles per day out of the city.

In the Leningrad Region, after reconstruction, a six-lane section of the A-181 Scandinavia highway was launched – an alternative to the narrow Vyborg Highway and a convenient bypass of all populated areas. Also included in the six-year road plan is a project for the construction of a ring road in St. Petersburg (KAD-2), which is being implemented on behalf of the President.

In the Chuvash Republic, traffic has been launched on a new bridge over the Sura River on the M-7 Volga highway. The length of the bridge, which was built as part of the national project “Safe Quality Roads,” is 2.4 km. When there were no railways, the river historically was the main transport artery for the delivery of goods from the Mordovian region to the central and northern parts of the country. The bridge will help more than double the capacity of the M-7 section on the border of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Chuvash Republic.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, traffic has been opened to bypass Kansk, one of the oldest cities in Siberia. In the 18th century, it became a center of transit trade on the historical overland route – the Siberian Highway, so the decision to redirect cargo from the city was extremely important. The bypass was included in the “Russia” transport route.
