8 crore businessmen will spoil the electoral calculations of political parties in 5 states from March 5, they also threaten to close their business, know on which issues they are angry?

New Delhi. After the Bharat Vyapar Bandh of 26th February, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has now announced a nationwide agitation from 5th March to 5th April on the issues of GST and e-commerce. This will be run as a massive aggressive national campaign in all the states of the country.

CAT has said that both these issues are directly related to the 8 crore traders of the country and until a logical solution to these two issues is found, this movement of traders will continue across the country. At present, traders across the country are badly troubled by the provisions of GST and the continuous arbitrariness of foreign companies in e-commerce. And now either they will get their problems solved or they will be forced to close their business.

CAT National President BC Bhartia and National General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal discussed these issues with more than 275 prominent leaders of all the states and union territories of the country through video conference. At the same time, it was unanimously decided that on both these issues, direct questions and answers would be given to the Central Government. At the same time, all the state governments of the country cannot escape their responsibility.

CAIT alleged that due to their interests and their stubbornness, the state governments have left no stone unturned in distorting the very simple laws and rules of GST. Therefore, now a comprehensive and aggressive campaign will be launched to corner all the states of the country on these issues.

CAT has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that since she is also the Chairperson of the GST Council, she should also immediately start talks with CAT regarding the distorted form of GST. On the other hand, the efforts of Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on the issue of e-commerce were appreciated.

CAT has urged them to understand the large scale on which foreign e-commerce companies are still openly violating the rules and regulations of the government. To curb this, a new press note should be issued removing the shortcomings of Press Note 2 of the FDI Policy. And the e-commerce policy should also be finalized and released.

Elections are being held in 5 states in the next few months and the business class as a vote bank in all the states can become the reason for the victory or defeat of any party on the strength of its numbers. Therefore, this decision of CAT can be politically harmful for all parties. At such a time, the displeasure of traders can prove costly for someone.

In the next phase of CAT’s national movement regarding GST and e-commerce, business organizations across the country will celebrate it as ‘Andolan Month’ from March 5 to April 5, under which more than 40 thousand business organizations of the country will protest on the issue of GST and e-commerce. Memorandums will be given to the collectors of all the districts in the name of the Governor, Chief Minister, Finance Minister, Principal Secretary (Finance), GST Commissioner and Chief Minister of all the states. Along with this, we will also give our memorandum to the presidents of all national parties and state level parties.
